Service Description

You are invited to learn more about mindfulness on this 4 week course. This beginner's group is designed to introduce you to the basics of mindfulness and meditation, exploring some of this through art and creativity. Jackie will guide you through short gentle meditations, creative exercises and provide you with tips and tools to begin to practice at home and integrate into your life. Join Jackie on a journey of discovering a new way to bring support and balance into your everyday life and work. This course is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. Please do not sign up for this training if you are currently experiencing severe problems in these areas. What will I do on this course? The sessions are in groups with a maximum of 10 people. They involve a combination of teaching, creative practices such as drawing and photography and mindfulness practices. You are encouraged to try out what is learned in everyday life, and there will be some discussion about what you have discovered. There are 4 weekly sessions lasting one hour each week. You don't have to have any art skills to join this course - we won't be learning how to be a "good" artist or producing any masterpieces, we will be experimenting with creative techniques to learn about slowing down, being present and bringing a new perspective. This is a structured course where each session builds upon what has been introduced before. This is why it is important to attend all the sessions Each session will have some short guided meditation practices based on modern psychological theory. Each practice or exercise is followed by a review of what you and/or other participants experienced or discovered in that practice/exercise. This review does not include a discussion of participants’ past history. Each session is followed by suggestions for practice at home. This includes guided practices (digital copies of audio will be provided), and also ways to bring mindfulness into your everyday life. Each session (except the first) includes a review of the previous week’s personal practice - sharing your experience is gently encouraged, but only if you wish to do so. You will have access to a paper and/or digital notes which give you written material to support each session. All materials will be provided.


Cancellation Policy

Places on the course can be cancelled with a refund with 7 days notice in order to allow time for other people to join the course.
