You are invited to learn more about mindfulness on the Introducing Mindfulness course designed by world experts at the Oxford University Mindfulness Centre. This beginner's group is designed to introduce you to the basics of mindfulness and meditation. Jackie will guide you through gentle meditations and provide you with tips and tools to begin to practice at home and integrate into your life. Join Jackie on a journey of discovering a new way to bring support and balance into your everyday life and work. This course is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. Please do not sign up for this training if you are currently experiencing severe problems in these areas. What will I do on this course? The sessions are in groups with a maximum of 10 people. They involve a combination of teaching, mindfulness practices, trying out what is learned in everyday life, and discussion. There are 3 weekly sessions lasting one hour each week. This is a structured course where each session builds upon what has been introduced before. This is why it is important to attend all the sessions Each session will have guided meditation practices based on modern psychological theory. Each practice or exercise is followed by a review of what you and/or other participants experienced or discovered in that practice/exercise. This review does not include a discussion of participants’ past history. Each session is followed by suggestions for practice at home. This includes guided practices (digital copies of audio will be provided), and also ways to bring mindfulness into your everyday life. Each session (except the first) includes a review of the previous week’s personal practice. You will have access to a paper and/or digital notes which give you written material to support each session.
